INTRODUCING...

Most college students face an important decision to make during or after the first few years of being enrolled, and that decision is the declaration of a major. Many people that are involved in performing arts face an even larger decision, whether or not they want to major in a performing arts program or a traditional academic field. Performing arts majors, specifically dance majors, are without a doubt the most interesting, unique students in a college environment. The majority of students in college get their degree by studying knowledge in a classroom or lab; however, dance majors earn a college degree by spending hours creating art in a studio, training physically, and learning about everything that is dance on a daily basis. Dance majors pay loads of money to enroll in a conservatory, university program, or performing arts college just to take a chance on making it big post-graduation or maybe teach dance as a profession. I myself have been asking myself if I should become a dance major. I have danced since the age of 10 and committing to getting a degree in dance has always been a large controversy for me. People with a lot of dance experience prior to college ask the real question: Is becoming a dance major worth everything that it takes?

The FSU School of dance is known for its great staff teachers, choreographers, and performers shown below.
